T G Smith Dementia Research & Development Unit

The Unit has been established as part of the Freemasons Centre for Research on Ageing, a desirable extension of current Centre activities into arguably, the most important area relating to research into aged care services.

This unit has been funded by a grant from the estate of Mrs Iris Merle Smith, who requested that a fitting memorial be set up to her late husband, who was a Freemason - Thomas George Smith - as a "material benefit to the aged and sick".

This Unit aims to achieve important outcomes to benefit people with dementia, their families, organisations supporting them and other researchers. The mission of the T G Smith Dementia Services Research and Development Unit is to improve the quality
